The odds of this result is basically 0.0000000377%. Let's also note that one person got 3 drops in allegedly 900 kills. Let's just say it's 2.5% for the sake of argument. FFXIDB is down right now or I'd have the precise number. I don't have the data, but it feels like my drop rate (over 6 characters) was around 2-4%. Not looking for upvotes here, just trying to learn how this game works.
Is there something I don't understand? Is there some kind of reputation, or special item, or buff I need to get these pollens to drop? Is there a food that increase item drop rates? Or can the drop rates be that low that the fifty or so wasps I've killed not be realistically expected to supply what I need?
I've leveled two jobs past where I can get exp. In three more hours of farming, not one drop. In game, people tell me to try Konschtat, whereupon I see there are a plethora of Huge Wasps, to my delight. I've only been playing for a week, and can't imagine how long until I can save up 90000. So I go to the AH, and they go for 30,000 per. I've done my due diligence in Internet research, and spent 2 hours in the crags of La Theine killing Huge Wasps for these. I need clumps of bee pollen for a Rhapsody quest. So, I'm effectively new, my last play period was 04 and frankly I had forgotten virtually everything about playing this game.
